Inspiration for small ponds, natural ponds and more
The pond as an eye-catcher
You've decided to have a pond or water feature constructed, or maybe you're going to dig and install the pond yourself. Good choice! A pond appeals to many people, since water is a basic necessity of life. In addition, a water feature brings peace and harmony. By placing a pond you bring a real eye catcher to the garden. For inspiration you will find on this page pictures of pond examples and ideas for applications and pond plants in your pond.
Popular hardy pond plants for the pond
Biological plant pond
Simon is convinced that nature regulates itself. So does a pond, provided of course we observe a few rules. Adjustment is necessary from time to time, especially when, for example, a liner or other material has been applied to keep the water in the pond. There are also ponds where no liner is applied. In these ponds, nature helps to filter the soil. The yellow lily helps with this, this is the water purifier in the pond.

Floating plants and oxygen plants
Floating plants and oxygen plants provide clear water by filtering the water. Fish are also happy, as they like to use the plants as hiding places. Oxygen plant hornwort is one that does incredibly well in the pond and will not proliferate.
Floating plant island
Koi carp love practically all pond plants. A perfect solution to still have plants in your koi pond without them being eaten is a floating plant island. This is easily made with PVC pipes and a Japanese mat, which allows water to pass through for the aquatic plants. Penninger is a hardy marsh plant that fits perfectly on such an island. The great thing is that the plant will grow over the edge so you won't see the pvc pipes over time and your koi carp will still have something to snack on from time to time.

Sleek pond or mirror pond
A mirror pond is a sleek pond with a water surface as smooth as a mirror. This type of pond is usually placed shallow and pumps, filters and uv equipment are often advised. Do you like a mirror pond but still want aquatic plants? Then you can put some water lilies in it. Like in the picture on the right, where the pink water lily Nymphaea 'Pink Opal' is flowering.
Mirror pond with plants
Usually mirror ponds do not get any help from aquatic plants, marsh plants or water lilies. In order to achieve and maintain a biological balance we recommend adding lots of underwater growing oxygen plants. These also contribute to keeping algae out of the water. A combination package of these plants fits perfectly in a mirror pond. It includes individual oxygen plants and oxygen plants in baskets for the bottom.
Nature pond or fish pond
A natural pond or fish pond does not have foil, plastic or other materials applied to the bottom to seal it. They are often very large ponds. The water is maintained at the right level by groundwater, for example, or by the supply of water naturally, other than tap water.
Water lilies are popular aquatic plants, and not just with people. They are hugely important for your fish, which can take shelter under them and thus be protected from impending danger. Water lilies are absolute eye-catchers, which we offer in all shapes and sizes. Are you considering a large pond? For that, we have complete water lily beds of perennial water lilies. These do not need to be planted, but you can literally throw them directly into the pond.
Swimming pond with plant filter
Swimming in the garden is something you do in the summer, and the bravest among us also take a dip outside the summer period. A swimming pond is an inexpensive pool that requires relatively little attention, provided it is properly constructed. A full plant filter is indispensable, because this is the filter to keep your pool water clear and algae-free.

Terrace pond or mini pond
Digging is not necessary if you choose a patio pond or mini pond in the garden. What you do need is a watertight container, bowl or rain barrel that will serve as a pond, and of course enough and different pond plants. The nice thing is that you can put your mini-pond on your small terrace or balcony. Just look at how much life it attracts! We have a tip for you: The best water lily for such a small pond is the white dwarf water lily Nymphaea 'Pygmaea Alba'.
Prevention is better than cure.
